On July 20th Shannel Courtney(DOC botanist), Roger Gaskell and Kristy Carswell all from DOC, Helen Lindsay an independent ecologist, Lindsay Barber from Nelson City Council, Julie McLintock and Ian Price from F&B met to look over the project and offer suggestions for advancing the project going forward, a very worthwhile meeting.
It was agreed we would immediately start planting podocarps amongst the pioneer plants, due to the pioneer plants rapid growth (48 Kahikatea, 96 Totara, 12 Pukatea immediately planted). We would transplant Ngaio seedlings further out into the Estuarine areas, over 80 have already been transplanted with more still too plant.
